Carter Reich

New York, New York

Carter founded his law practice in 2017 as the next stage of a 15 year career as a courtroom lawyer. As a newly admitted attorney, Carter worked as an associate at an established general practice in New Jersey where he handled a wide variety litigation matters. From 2007 to 2017, Carter worked alongside his mentor, first as an associate at an established insurance defense practice in midtown Manhattan, and then for an offshoot of that practice where he was named partner in 2013.

Having developed a diverse litigation practice, including several notable cases arising out of the purchase and sale of fine art, Carter hung his shingle and maintains an office in the Financial District.

An aggressive advocate in the courtroom and typifying the "anti-lawyer" outside of it, Carter handles all facets of litigation and dispute resolution, including AAA Commercial Arbitration, from inception through trial, including appeals, and practices in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey, as well as the United States Supreme Court. Carter has also been retained to handle matters in other jurisdictions through local counsel.

Carter counsels businesses and high net-worth individuals outside the courthouse on a plethora of issues ranging from business formation, insurance, trust administration, and commercial real estate leasing; to negotiating the purchase and sale of fine art, exhibition agreements, and submissions to authentication committees.

Since 2016, Carter has served as the General Counsel of the National Realty Club, the premier commercial real estate business development organization in New York City. Carter also often serves as an advisor or monitoring counsel to businesses represented by counsel.

In 2010, Carter was recognized for his acumen in commercial litigation as the recipient of the New York Enterprise Report's (now SmartCEO) Best Attorneys and Accountants Commercial Litigation Award. From 2013- 2018, Carter has annually been named a "Rising Star" in SuperLawyers for the Metro New York City region, an accolade only 2.5% of New York City attorneys under the age of 40 can claim. Continuing the streak, in 2019 Carter was named a "SuperLawyer" in the field of general litigation.

Carter resides in New Jersey with his wife, Lauren, and sons August and Otto. Despite relocating from Hell's Kitchen to northern, NJ in 2010, Carter maintains his connections to Manhattan as a member of several business development organizations as well as an active fundraiser for Ice Hockey In Harlem, where he volunteered as an on-ice coach for six years.
